Frequently Asked Questions

Business Intelligence tools are valuable, and many of our customers use them to analyze different parts of the business. But they can also be complex, time-consuming, hence inappropriate for busy store teams to use in the flow of the day.
Pivotal is different because it is designed to present critical information, not data. While you can easily access information in great detail, the real value is in how any member of the store team can quickly know their performance, identify opportunities, and evaluate changes without custom reports or complex queries.
-
Pivotal is built around how grocery teams actually review the business: by banner, stores, departments, categories, promotions, items, voids, and sales movement. Instead of forcing grocers into generic dashboards, it organizes reporting around grocery decisions.
-
Pivotal is not intended to replace every existing system. It is designed to make key sales insights easier to access and act on by giving teams a simple, grocery-specific view of the information that matters most. This often means that store teams no longer need generated reports or certain existing analysis tools.
-
Most customers begin seeing ROI within the first 60 days. Pivotal is not a magic wand, but it helps teams uncover the opportunities that are often buried in day-to-day sales data: missed movement, margin leakage, voids, pricing issues, and execution gaps.
We often see a single department manager that identifies an assortment issue, shrink issue or a margin issue that pays for Pivotal for the entire store several times over.
Across our customer base, Pivotal users consistently see sales growth. Up to 80% of Pivotal users outperform their peers.
-
In practice, it is the opposite. Pivotal is designed to give business users direct access to practical sales visibility, reducing dependence on manual or one-off reporting requests.
-
Pivotal is designed to be easy for busy grocery teams to use with little to no training. During onboarding, we provide training so your team understands the tool, the views, and the key ways to use it day to day.
That said, many users are able to start using Pivotal on their own or with a quick introduction from one of their colleagues.
-
Pivotal is designed for fast adoption and scale. The experience is simple, intuitive and grocery-specific, so most users can begin using Pivotal immediately with t little to no training.
-
We do offer onboarding training as well as ongoing training as desired. Training is provided by grocery industry veterans.
-
Our pricing model is designed for independent grocers. We understand the margin pressure, labor constraints, and cost sensitivity in this industry, so we price Pivotal based on the number of stores we support. Typical customers pay less than $180.00 per store per month.
We also want to encourage broad adoption across your team. That is why Pivotal includes unlimited users for store teams, so owners, operators, buyers, managers, and other stakeholders can all access the same clear view of the business for the same price.
-
Pivotal is compatible with most POS systems and can adapt to many different data environments. During implementation, we partner with your IT team or POS system provider to connect the necessary data sources. We then configure Pivotal to present information in a way that you’re accustomed to seeing it; implementing your department/category structure and calendar..
Most setups can be completed in about one week, depending on your systems and data access. Our goal is to make implementation straightforward, minimize the burden on your internal team, and get your users into the tool quickly.
-
So are we, which is why we use the latest technology to ensure the security of your information, including end to end encryption, and industry leading cloud data centers for processing. In over 10 years of business, across hundreds of retailers and literally 100’s of Billions of dollars of transactions processed, we have never had a loss of customer data.
Each Pivotal user has their own unique access, which can be revoked at any time.
While we see the best performance results when all members of the store team have access to all the information, we recognize that visibility is not always inline with existing policies. For this reason, with Pivotal it is possible to provide different visibility based on roles if that is desired.
